Senior Sous Chef - Gomshall, Guildford
The Gomshall Mill is a beautiful foodie pub in a picturesque corner of rural Surrey yet only a few miles from Guildford on one side and Dorking on the other.
The pub sits on the banks of the River Tillingbourne surrounded by stunning countryside, this beautiful timber-framed mill dates from Medieval times. We have gone to great lengths to preserve the character of the building, with its jumble of nooks and crannies, ancient creaking floorboards, and a forest of oak beams.
Our menu has a spine of freshly prepared, classic British dishes, complemented by some more exotic influences from other parts of the world: in other words, modern British cookery. Our passion lies in finding quality ingredients and preparing, cooking and presenting them in a modern but unpretentious way.
We’re looking for someone who, as well as having excellent skills as a Sous Chef, has a passion for good, fresh food and a good head for business.
For us it’s all about serving fresh, simple, high quality traditional dishes extremely well and together with the head chef you will help write the menus, assist in sourcing ingredients from the best suppliers and set and maintain the highest standards of food quality and consistency.
You’ll need to have the ability to efficiently manage the kitchen in the head chef’s absence and so your kitchen management and organisational skills will be of paramount importance. Creating a happy working atmosphere is vital to the successful running of the kitchens, and comes high on our agenda.
This will be a vital role in the pub and is an excellent stepping stone on the road to managing your own kitchen.
