Dedicated and enthusiastic assistant manager required

The Juggs in Lewes is looking for an experienced Assistant Manager to join our management team on a full time and permanent basis.
 
Part of the Shepherd Neame group of sixty managed houses in London and the South East; the Juggs is a traditional picturesque English pub with a great outdoor area that is set just minutes from the foot of the South Downs. We are a busy and very seasonal food led site that deals in very high volume covers during the summer months and we are recognised locally for our extensive range of award winning ales, lagers and wines.
 
We need an enthusiastic Assistant Manager that has first class communication skills, some form of previous team lead or supervisory experience and bags of personality. If you are ready to take your skills to the next level, we can provide you with the support and our management first training scheme to get you there.
 
You must be dedicated and flexible in this post as you will be working approximately 48 hours per week to include evenings and weekends and you will also be expected to cover holiday relief in the absence of the General Manager.
 
Role and Responsibilities:

  • Reporting into the GM you will be trained to take complete ownership of the site in their absence.
  • You will oversee all departments and their teams to include the bar, restaurant and kitchen areas.
  • Operationally you will ensure first class customer service delivery, quality and food standards are maintained and that customer expectations are met.
  • You will be trained to undertake stock management responsibilities, administrative and daily banking duties as required.
  • Once trained, you will be responsible for all licencing legislation and health and safety requirements whilst on site.
  • Longer term you will support the staff recruitment, management, training and development for a team of approx. 12 staff.

Requirements:

  • Minimum one year’s team lead or supervisory experience in ideally the hospitality or customer service sector.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to engage, train and motivate a team of staff.
  • First class customer service, health and safety and service standards.
  • Ideally you will be conversant in all aspects of cellar management, but full training will be provided.
  • You must be flexible in terms of the working hours required of you.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the hospitality sector with the desire to develop to management.
  • Due to our location, you must have your own transport.
